SCHWARZSEE

A small, wild valley perched above the Lac Noir and surrounded by craggy peaks for a 1h30 walk and 390 metres of positive ascent.
The flora consists of sycamore maples and numerous flowers. The fauna includes marmots and chamois. The Bärenloch cave, as its name suggests, was once home to cave bears, many of whose bones have been found in the Breccaschlund valley. A number of alpine chalets and restaurants offer refreshments during your visit to the valley. You can also take home some cheese, which some mountain chalets sell directly.

Geologically, the valley is made up of a succession of tectonic folds. There are no watercourses, but moraines, the remains of ancient glaciers, lapiés and a wide network of underground galleries, typical karstic formations as well as scree and other deposits.
The peaks of Les Recardets, Pointe de Balachaux, Gros Brun, Chörblispitz, Floschenflue and Spitzfue watch over the Breccaschlund valley.

Breccaschlund is accessible by public transport (TPF), getting off at the Campus stop.
