CHÂTEAU-D'ŒX

A wooden bridge offers a superb view of the Ramaclé waterfall surrounded by forest. This waterfall is formed by two streams, the Rosette and the Ramaclé.

The Turrian Bridge over the Sarine, built in 1883, is the oldest suspension bridge in French-speaking Switzerland. It is also one of the last suspension bridges.

Between the Ramaclé waterfall and the Turrian bridge, the Sarine crosses a wide alluvial zone for a 50-minute walk with a 130-metre vertical drop. Each flood alters the course of the river, encouraging the renewal of the vegetation. White alder is a species that is particularly well adapted to this type of environment.

The Ramaclé alluvial zone is accessible by public transport with the GoldenPass and PostBus, getting off at the station stop. The Pont Turrian is also accessible on foot from Château-d'Œx.
